- The Adult Community Occupational Therapy (ACOT) Service at London Borough of Croydon is currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated Locum Occupational Therapist to join their dedicated Major Adaptations Unit.
- This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with strong experience in community practice, specialist equipment, and major adaptations to work within a fast-paced and supportive adult social care environment.
- The successful candidate will play a key role in helping adults with complex physical needs remain safe, independent, and supported within their own homes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertake home visits to complete occupational therapy assessments and follow-up visits.
- Review and progress recommendations made by Occupational Therapy staff within locality teams.
- Assess for and recommend complex equipment and major housing adaptations.
- Prepare detailed specifications for adaptation works, including sketches and interpretation of technical plans.
- Liaise effectively with housing teams, surveyors, contractors, and partner agencies to coordinate and oversee adaptations through to completion.
- Provide specialist advice relating to manual handling, accessibility, and independent living solutions.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure work is completed in line with professional standards and legislation.
Essential Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Previous experience within Adult Social Care and community-based Occupational Therapy services.
- Extensive knowledge of specialist equipment, moving and handling, and major adaptations.
- Experience preparing adaptation specifications and working alongside contractors and housing services.
- Strong communication, organisational, and case management skills.
