Job Title: Operations Director

Location: Berkshire (Hybrid – Minimum 3 days on-site per week)

Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday (Hybrid Options Available)

We are working exclusively with a progressive and well-established NHS organisation to recruit a highly capable Operations Director.

This is a senior operational leadership role, pivotal to the effective running, governance, and development of the NHS Service. You will work closely with the Clinical Director and the Board, ensuring the organisation operates safely, compliantly, and efficiently while delivering excellent services to approximately 82,000 patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong operational leadership and day-to-day management of the NHS Service
  • Lead on corporate and clinical governance, risk management, and assurance
  • Act as the lead for CQC readiness and regulatory compliance across the network
  • Manage the NHS Service's DES contract and all associated contractual obligations
  • Oversee estates, facilities, and health & safety compliance
  • Support the Board through agenda planning, high-quality reporting, and minute taking
  • Work closely with finance leads to manage budgets, claims, and financial performance
  • Build strong relationships with the ICB, member practices, and external stakeholders

About the Role

This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three days per week on-site, with flexibility for up to two days of remote working. Additional on-site presence may be required at times to meet business needs.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Senior operational management experience within Primary Care, General Practice or other NHS service
  • Strong background in governance, risk management, and assurance
  • Experience supporting Boards or senior leadership teams
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Confident operating at a senior level with credibility and professionalism
  • Thorough understanding of NHS structures, contracts (particularly DES), and regulatory requirements

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of CQC frameworks and inspection processes
  • Experience of estates and facilities management in healthcare
  • Project or programme management experience
  • Working knowledge of limited company structures
