Our client is currently recruiting for an Outreach Support Worker to work in the Greenwich & Blackheath areas at a service that provides support and crisis intervention to former rough sleepers living in independent accommodation.
- 37.5 hours per week
- Monday - Friday
- Shifts: 09:00 - 17:00
- Temporary: approx. 4 weeks, with the possibility of extension
- £16.95 per hour (£14.80 per hour, with £2.15 holiday pay)
Please note: This is an outreach role, you will work across 4 properties in the Blackheath area and from the office in Greenwich.
Key responsibilities:
- Hold a caseload of 12-13 key clients, delivering key working sessions and tailored support plans
- Work with customers to identify the skills required to manage their own tenancy
- Provide pre-tenancy support, including assistance moving into properties
- Support customers in claiming benefits and assist with accessing specialist support
- Assess needs, triage referrals, and provide guidance through drop-ins, ongoing support and crisis intervention
- Encourage access to mental health, substance misuse, health, training, employment, and social support services
- Liaise with external agencies and review support plans with partner organisations
What we’re looking for:
- Experience supporting former rough sleepers
- Strong knowledge of welfare benefits, safeguarding, health and safety, and housing support needs
- Understanding of statutory and voluntary support services
- Excellent communication, customer service, and IT skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Further requirements:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Current valid right to work in the UK
- Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
- A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
- Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
