Outreach Support Worker (Progression Coach)

Central Recruitment is working with a prominent national homelessness charity, whose work includes supporting and accommodating young people.
Our client is currently recruiting for four Progression Coaches (Outreach) to work in the Manchester, Salford and Bolton areas providing support to young people (aged 18-25) who are at risk of homelessness.
- 37.5 hours per week
- Monday - Friday
- Shifts: 09:00 - 17:00
- Temporary: approx. 3-4 months
- £16.58 per hour (£14.79 per hour, with £1.79 holiday pay)
This is an outreach role and the successful candidates will be required to work across the Manchester, Salford and/or Bolton areas supporting young people in their accommodation and out in the community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage a caseload of up to 30 clients, delivering regular person-centred keywork sessions and tailored support
- Complete and review high-quality risk assessments and SMART, outcomes-focused support plans
- Provide one-to-one community support and occasionally facilitate group sessions
- Help clients achieve goals related to housing, financial stability, social connections, and meaningful activities
- Safeguard client wellbeing by following safeguarding and emergency procedures
- Offer advice and support on housing, employment, education, and benefits
- Build effective partnerships with statutory services, landlords, and third-sector organisations to support client outcomes
- Involve clients in decision-making and encourage participation in community activities
- Work in line with outcomes-based contract requirements and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles
- Maintain accurate, timely records on the client database
Please note that this role involves lone working. Travel expenses can be claimed for this role.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Experience supporting young people who have experienced homelessness, mental ill health, substance misuse or limited access to opportunities
- Experience managing a large caseload independently
- Experience lone working in the community
- Experience keeping up to date and accurate records
- Commitment to working in a strengths-based way
- Experience and understanding of risk assessments and support planning
- Experience and understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures
- High level understanding of professional boundaries
- Effective collaborative working and partnership building
- Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills
FURTHER REQUIREMENTS:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Current valid right to work in the UK
- Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
- A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
- Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
