About the Role

We are a leading service provider supporting the oil & gas, power generation, and renewable energy sectors, operating from a recently upgraded Centre of Excellence in Ellon. Following significant investment in our facility, we are continuing to grow and are now looking for a mechanically minded Gas Compressor Technician to join our team.

This is a hands-on, workshop-based role, ideal for candidates who enjoy bench work, dismantling and rebuilding equipment, and working with precision engineering components. You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for delivering high-quality overhaul and repair services on rotating equipment used in demanding industrial environments.

We welcome applicants from all mechanical backgrounds — whether you have experience in compressors, engines, pumps, gearboxes, automotive, marine, aerospace, or heavy industry — if you have strong mechanical aptitude and enjoy stripping and rebuilding machinery, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strip down, inspect, and rebuild gas compressors and their components in a workshop/bench environment
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs to a high standard
  • Perform precision fitting, assembly, and light machining work where required
  • Conduct functional and performance testing on overhauled equipment
  • Work closely with engineering and quality teams to ensure all builds meet specification
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with HSE standards

Requirements

  • Experience working on gas compressors or similar rotating equipment (e.g. pumps, motors, turbines)
  • Strong mechanical fitting, assembly, and fault-finding skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • High attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented approach
  • Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental practices

What We’re Looking For

  Strong mechanical experience — any industry considered (automotive, plant, forces, rail, manufacturing, etc.)

  Confident in stripping, inspecting, and rebuilding mechanical equipment

  Experience with rotating equipment (compressors, pumps, motors, engines, gearboxes) is desirable but not essential

  Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and manuals

  High attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship

  Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work well as part of a team

  Good understanding of health and safety practices in a workshop environment

  • 33 days annual leave
  • Pension contribution
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Retail, lifestyle, and entertainment discounts
  • Car leasing scheme for you and your family
  • Long service recognition awards
