Are you a Packaging Technologist looking for an opportunity to make a real impact within a growing bakery business?
We're partnering with a highly successful and expanding bakery manufacturer that supplies innovative products to major retail and foodservice customers across the UK. As the business continues to invest in new product development, sustainability initiatives and packaging innovation, we're seeking a talented Packaging Technologist to join the technical team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of packaging projects from concept through to launch, working closely with NPD, Operations, Technical, Procurement and external suppliers.
The Role
As Packaging Technologist, you'll play a key role in developing, improving and implementing packaging solutions that meet customer requirements, manufacturing capabilities and sustainability objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
✔ Developing new packaging formats and materials for existing and new products
✔ Managing packaging projects from concept through to factory implementation
✔ Ensuring packaging complies with legal, retailer and customer requirements
✔ Conducting packaging trials and supporting factory validations
✔ Liaising with suppliers to source innovative and cost-effective solutions
✔ Creating and maintaining packaging specifications and technical documentation
✔ Supporting sustainability and packaging reduction initiatives
✔ Investigating packaging issues and driving continuous improvement activities
✔ Working cross-functionally with Technical, NPD, Production and Procurement teams
About You
We're looking for someone who can combine technical expertise with commercial awareness and strong project management skills.
You may currently be working as a:
- Packaging Technologist
- Packaging Development Technologist
- Packaging Specialist
- Packaging Coordinator
- Packaging Development Executive
✔ Packaging experience within food manufacturing, bakery, FMCG or related sectors
✔ Understanding of packaging materials, specifications and manufacturing processes
✔ Experience managing packaging trials and product launches
✔ Knowledge of packaging legislation and food contact requirements
✔ Strong organisational and communication skills
✔ Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
