Job Purpose


To prepare, mask, and apply aerospace-grade paint and protective coatings to aircraft structural and composite components including doors, wings, radomes, fairings, and associated airframe parts, ensuring compliance with aviation quality, safety, and OEM specifications.



Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare aircraft components for painting including cleaning, degreasing, sanding, filling, and surface correction.
  • Carry out masking and demasking of complex aircraft assemblies to protect non-painted areas and sensitive systems.
  • Mix, prepare, and apply primers, base coats, and topcoats using HVLP, air-assisted, or electrostatic spray equipment.
  • Paint structural components such as wings, doors, radomes, and fairings to strict aerospace standards.
  • Ensure correct paint thickness, adhesion, finish quality, and colour matching in line with technical drawings and specifications.
  • Inspect surfaces before and after painting to identify defects such as runs, orange peel, contamination, or uneven coating.
  • Carry out rework, polishing, and touch-ups where required to achieve final quality standards.
  • Maintain compliance with aviation safety procedures, FOD control, and environmental regulations (including hazardous materials handling).
  • Work closely with engineering, quality control, and maintenance teams to ensure correct interpretation of work instructions.
  • Maintain paint shop equipment, tools, and spraying systems in good working condition.


Key Requirements

  • Experience in industrial or aerospace painting, preferably within MRO or aircraft manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of surface preparation and coating systems used in aviation (primers, epoxy, polyurethane, etc.).
  • Ability to follow technical drawings, work instructions, and OEM specifications accurately.
  • Knowledge of masking techniques for complex assemblies and tight tolerance components.
  • Awareness of aviation safety standards, FOD control, and hazardous material handling.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality cosmetic and protective finishes.
  • Ability to work in controlled environments such as paint booths or hangar facilities.


Desirable Skills

  • Experience working on aircraft structures or composite components.
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality systems (e.g., AS9100 environments).
  • Knowledge of corrosion prevention and surface treatment processes.
  • Spray painting certification or vocational training in coatings/finishing.
