The Pastoral Leader role is focused on supporting the personal, emotional, behavioural, and academic development of pupils, particularly those facing barriers to education. The role involves overseeing a caseload of students, supporting attendance, behaviour, safeguarding, and reintegration into mainstream or specialist education settings.

Key responsibilities include:

  • providing pastoral and behavioural support to vulnerable pupils,
  • implementing trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches,
  • managing safeguarding concerns alongside the DSL team,
  • leading multi-agency meetings and working closely with families and external agencies,
  • monitoring attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing data,
  • and developing individual support, reintegration, and harm-reduction plans.

The role requires someone with strong experience working with young people in education, youth work, social care, SEND, or alternative provision settings. The ideal candidate will have:

  • excellent safeguarding knowledge,
  • strong emotional intelligence,
  • experience managing challenging behaviour,
  • and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and professionals.
