Plant Hire Coordinator – Temporary (6 Months)

Location: Dudley, West Midlands

Hours: Full‑time – 8:00am–4:00pm or 9:00am–5:00pm

Contract: Temporary (6 months – sickness cover)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Plant Hire Coordinator based in Dudley, West Midlands. This is a temporary role to cover sickness for an initial 6‑month period.

The successful applicant will have previous experience coordinating plant hire, plant machinery and plant operators within a construction or infrastructure environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Arrange the hire of all internal and external plant and machinery as required by contract and delivery teams
  • Order plant, tools, equipment and plant machine drivers/operators
  • Accurately on‑hire and off-hire plant using the pay/finance system
  • Log and maintain on‑hire and off‑hire tickets, ensuring a full audit trail
  • Update and maintain plant trackers, ensuring plant locations are accurately recorded
  • Learn and use a new finance system, raising purchase orders and requisitions for approval
  • Ensure suppliers deliver the required level of service
  • Deal with plant hire queries and escalate to relevant managers where required
  • Record all costs relating to repairs, losses and damage
  • Carry out regular plant audits
  • Complete paperwork for theft, loss or damage of plant and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all company procedures and documentation
  • Proactively support improvements to plant hire processes and systems

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Plant Hire Co‑ordinator, Plant Hire Administrator or in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of plant machinery, tools and construction equipment
  • Good understanding of plant operator competencies and site requirements
  • Experience working within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure environments
  • Confident using finance systems, plant trackers and purchase order systems
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Clear communication skills and ability to liaise with suppliers, site teams and management
