A specialist secondary SEN provision in Uxbridge is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). This is a highly rewarding role supporting young people with complex medical, physical, and learning needs in a structured and nurturing environment.

About the Role

As a Secondary PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with PMLD
• Support pupils with communication, engagement, and sensory-based learning
• Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility support
• Use specialist equipment and follow care plans to support physical needs
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals
• Implement EHCP targets and individual support programmes
• Help create a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

• Experience supporting pupils with PMLD or complex SEN needs
• Manual Handling training – essential
• Confident supporting personal care and physical needs
• Understanding of sensory learning and communication approaches
• Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service – essential

Desirable

• Experience working with secondary-aged pupils
• Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or AAC systems
• Background in care, healthcare, or specialist education
