Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a globally recognised multidisciplinary consultancy in their search for an Associate Planner to join their Birmingham team.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Associate Planner to work at the forefront of major infrastructure and development projects across the UK. The successful candidate will join one of the country's leading planning consultancies, contributing to nationally significant schemes across transport, energy, water, environmental, and regeneration sectors within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

THE ROLE

As an Associate Planner, you will take a leading role in the delivery of complex planning and infrastructure projects across a range of sectors and markets.

You will act as Planning Lead on multidisciplinary schemes, oversee project delivery, support business development initiatives, and mentor junior team members, continuing to develop your career as an Associate Planner within a globally respected consultancy environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Acting as Planning Lead across major infrastructure and development projects
* Managing multidisciplinary project teams and overseeing project delivery
* Preparing and reviewing planning strategies, reports, and supporting documentation
* Supporting bid preparation, tender submissions, and framework responses
* Providing strategic planning and consenting advice to clients
* Working collaboratively with environmental, engineering, and design teams
* Supporting and mentoring junior colleagues within the planning team
* Engaging with market and client leads to support business growth opportunities

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

* RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
* MRTPI qualified preferred
* Strong experience within a planning consultancy or infrastructure environment
* Experience acting in a project management or project lead capacity
* Strong understanding of Strategic Planning and Planning Policy
* Experience with EIA processes and major infrastructure consenting regimes
* Knowledge of TCPA, DCO, TWAO, or equivalent applications desirable
* Strong written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills
* Demonstrable experience supporting business development and work winning activities
* Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure
