SUMMARY

The Transfer Engineer has two primary missions: (1) supporting/developing/managing the facility structures, mechanical systems, and equipment specifications; (2) developing sound operational understanding and documentation of all mechanical and production related processes.  As part of the Operations team, this position contributes to safety, quality, service, and environmental compliance while performing all functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support the implementation of engineering and plant strategic initiatives.
  • Learn and prepare a complete data set to enable duplication of  production at alternate location(s)
  • Identify areas for improvement in process yield, cost, and product quality.
  • Recommend and assess technology to improve efficiency and/or safety.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to other department team members.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Develop process documentation and operating instructions providing training where applicable.
  • Develop, configure, and optimize industrial processes from inception through start up.
  • Provide assistance to production and maintenance departments. 
  • Manage Capex projects from initial strategic planning phase to project completion.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

Degree in Engineering, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field is preferred. Three to five years manufacturing experience is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE

A working knowledge of thermoset plastics is recommended.  CAD drafting experience is required.  Inventor knowledge is recommended.  Experience and working knowledge of blueprints, machining equipment, CNC equipment, CNC Programming, and are required.  Working knowledge of basic chemistry is a plus.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and uninvolved written and oral instructions. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standard situations.
  • The associate must have the ability to use basic math skills such as add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure using whole numbers.
  • Able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Able to communicate effectively with managers and co-workers.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematics, machine drawings, operating manuals/procedures, and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to prepare written technical reports and/or correspondence.
  • Must maintain complex files and records.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office. 
  • Possess a level of high engagement to motivate others.
  • Capable of professionally addressing issues and incidents.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate should have the following training:

  • Included but not limited to: General Safety, OSHA 10 General Industry preferred, AutoCAD, Machining, Continuous Improvement, Arc Flash, Lock Out Tag Out, Hot Work,
  • RPM specific training including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and MS168 Green Belt
  • Training and certifications can be obtained during the first year of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. The employee will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, and weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.  Occasional visits to moderate noise may be required. Occasional exposure to process fumes and dust is required, the candidate must be capable of tolerating these non-hazardous fumes and dust.
