Procurement Specialist – Energy & Sustainability

Wolviston Management Services are delighted to support Tioxide in recruiting a Procurement Specialist – Energy & Sustainability to join the Procurement / Supply Chain team at Greatham.
  
This is a key commercial role with responsibility for leading sourcing activity across allocated procurement categories, with a core focus on energy, utilities, emission allowances and renewable energy solutions.
  
The successful candidate will develop and deliver procurement strategies that optimise cost, manage risk, ensure security of supply and support regulatory and sustainability objectives. This role will provide market expertise, commercial leadership and procurement capability to deliver measurable cost savings, improve supplier performance and support carbon reduction targets.
  
What you’ll be doing
You will:
  • Develop and deliver procurement strategies using market intelligence, supplier insight, benchmarking and total cost of ownership analysis.
  • Identify and source new suppliers and service providers, leading onboarding and implementation with site stakeholders.
  • Lead tender processes, negotiations and contract award activity in collaboration with Legal.
  • Deliver measurable cost savings, cost avoidance and value improvement opportunities.
  • Lead procurement of energy commodities, including electricity, natural gas and associated services.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies, including fixed, indexed, blended and other commercial models.
  • Monitor and analyse energy markets, pricing trends and regulatory developments.
  • Manage relationships with energy suppliers, brokers and intermediaries.
  • Identify and implement renewable and low-carbon energy solutions, including green electricity contracts, Power Purchase Agreements, biomethane and solar solutions.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting through energy cost modelling, consumption analysis and variance tracking.
  • Deliver strategies to mitigate price volatility and supply risk.
  • Manage supplier performance using structured scorecards covering safety, quality, cost and service.
  • Lead supplier review meetings and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure procurement activity complies with internal policies, legal requirements and EHS standards.
  • Support carbon reduction and sustainability strategies through procurement activity.
  • Maintain strong governance, documentation and audit trails across sourcing activity.
  
Candidate requirements
We welcome applications from people who have:
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement, sourcing or supply chain roles.
  • Proven experience of negotiation within commercially complex or volatile markets.
  • Strong experience in sourcing strategy development, tendering and contract implementation.
  • A good understanding of supplier management, category management and total cost of ownership principles.
  • Demonstrable experience or strong understanding of energy procurement, utilities or energy market dynamics.
  • Strong analytical capability, including cost modelling, data analysis and market evaluation.
  • The ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to balance cost, risk, compliance and operational requirements.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to explain complex market, commercial and procurement information clearly.
  • Experience in energy procurement, including power, gas or renewable energy sourcing, would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of energy-related mechanisms such as CCL, EII, NCC or CPS would be welcomed.
  • Experience with renewable solutions such as Power Purchase Agreements, biomethane or on-site generation would be advantageous.
  • Experience in manufacturing, chemical, process, industrial or energy-intensive environments would be beneficial.
