Product Design Engineer

The Role

You’ll be part of a close-knit engineering and production team, helping take lighting products from concept through to manufacture. This position suits someone who brings creativity, initiative, and fresh thinking, while maintaining a strong foundation in engineering principles.

You’ll contribute to new product development, enhancements to existing ranges, and bespoke customer solutions, working from a North West–based headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop lighting products, components, and assemblies using SolidWorks
• Create detailed 3D models, technical drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and supporting documentation
• Collaborate with production, purchasing, and sales teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with customer needs
• Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities
• Contribute innovative ideas to improve product performance, aesthetics, and manufacturability
• Drive continuous improvement across existing product lines
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and internal quality requirements
• Provide technical input during customer discussions and project scoping

What We’re Looking For:

• Must have strong proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modelling, assemblies, and technical drawings
• Must have a background in product design, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline
• Experience working with sheet metal, aluminium extrusions, plastics, or similar manufacturing processes is advantageous
• Proactive, enthusiastic, and solutions-oriented approach
• Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on mindset
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
