Product Engineer

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a global engineering manufacturer to recruit a Product Engineer to join their engineering team.

This is not a new product development role.

Instead, we're looking for an engineer who enjoys taking ownership of products once they've been released into manufacture. The focus of the position is managing the "noise" that comes after front-end product development, including customer queries, product compatibility challenges, engineering changes, supplier issues, compliance requirements, product variants and everything else that comes with supporting a live product range.

Working at the back end of the product lifecycle, you'll become the technical focal point for released products, ensuring they remain robust, compliant, manufacturable and commercially viable throughout their lifecycle. This role allows Product Development Engineers to focus on new product creation, whilst you take ownership of the ongoing technical support and continuous improvement of existing products.

Key responsibilities include:

• Technical ownership of released products throughout their lifecycle
• Acting as the engineering point of contact for customer, production, supplier and field-related technical issues
• Managing the day-to-day technical challenges that arise after product launch
• Supporting engineering changes and product updates driven by manufacturing, supply chain or customer requirements
• Leading root cause investigations and resolving product-related issues
• Coordinating corrective actions with Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain teams
• Supporting second sourcing and supplier qualification activities
• Managing product variants, SKU expansion and configuration control
• Coordinating product testing, validation and compliance activities
• Driving standardisation, simplification and continuous improvement initiatives
• Supporting Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) projects
• Ensuring technical documentation and product definitions remain accurate and controlled

You'll ideally have:

• A Mechanical Engineering qualification (or equivalent experience)
• Experience supporting products in a manufacturing environment after release
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
• Experience working cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain and Operations teams
• Knowledge of engineering change processes and product lifecycle management
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

This role would suit an engineer who enjoys solving real-world product and manufacturing challenges rather than spending their time solely on front-end design activities.

You'll take ownership of the back-end lifecycle support of a technically complex product range, dealing with everything from customer enquiries and product compatibility issues through to supplier changes, compliance requirements, engineering updates and continuous improvement projects.

It's a highly visible role with broad business exposure and the opportunity to influence product performance, quality, reliability and cost across an established product portfolio within a growing international engineering business.
