Then get in touch! Kingston Barnes is looking for a Production Lead (Production Engineering Manager) for our client in Stroud, Gloucestershire. You will be working with high-quality technical products in a technical environment.

The Role: You will support the development of new technology introduction, machine and tool standardisation and sourcing. You’ll work with the Production Engineers to find the most ocst-effective production methods for all manufactured components whilst recording both projected and actual costs for each component.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Operations Director to deliver cost reductions through technology, automation, and sourcing improvements
  • Enhance machining capability while lowering repeat production costs
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by reducing set-ups and maximising uptime
  • Ensure new products are cost-effective and designed for manufacture
  • Support product development with a focus on production readiness and material suitability
  • Develop and manage component costings, including tooling, quality, and labour
  • Track performance against cost estimates to drive improvements
  • Optimise CNC programs and manufacturing methods
  • Lead Production Engineers to deliver efficient, standardised processes
  • Implement standard tooling, setups, and programs
  • Ensure shop floor adherence to approved methods and processes
  • Manage CNC program control and documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement, lean practices, and automation initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for new tools, technology, and standardisation
  • Capture shop floor feedback to improve processes and performance

About you:

  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering (desirable)
  • Strong hands-on machining and machine shop experience
  • Proven production engineering background
  • Proficient in Edgecam (CAM software)
  • Able to read and understand CNC programs
  • Experience with manual and CNC machinery
  • Team leadership or supervisory experience
  • Good numerical and literacy skills
  • Competent in MS Office and general IT systems
