Production Team Lead

Fortress Recruit is working with a leading defence engineering and manufacturing organisation to appoint an experienced Production Team Leader to their team in Poole.

This role provides the opportunity to lead a skilled production team responsible for delivering high-quality electronic and engineering products used in demanding naval and defence environments worldwide. 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing a team of technicians to achieve production targets and business objectives
  • Coordinating daily workloads and resources to ensure products are delivered to schedule and quality requirements
  • Managing team development, performance, attendance, welfare and training requirements
  • Supporting apprentices and trainees through mentoring and skills development activities
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives across production processes, quality, lead times and operational efficiency
  • Supporting root cause analysis activities and implementing corrective actions where required


To be considered you will have:

  • Previous experience in a Production Team Leader, Manufacturing Team Leader, Cell Leader, or similar supervisory role
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with experience developing and motivating teams
  • Good understanding of manufacturing, assembly, testing and production environments
  • Experience using MRP or ERP systems within a manufacturing setting
  • Ability to interpret technical engineering drawings
  • Understanding of quality management systems, ideally ISO 9001 environments
  • ONC/HNC in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous
  • Leadership and Management qualifications such as ILM Level 2 or 3 would be beneficial
  • Eligibility for SC Clearance (5 years' UK residency with no visa or sponsorship requirement)
