Programme Manager Construction Growth and Skills

Solihull College & University Centre · Direct employer

We are seeking an ambitious and industry-focused Programme Manager – Construction Growth and Skills to lead the planning, development and delivery of construction provision in line with the College’s wider construction growth and skills strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing construction skills provision at a time when the sector is central to economic growth, housing, infrastructure, sustainability and the transition to green technologies. The successful candidate will lead allocated provision with a clear focus on growing learner numbers, increasing income, developing new programmes and strengthening relationships with employers and key stakeholders.

Working closely with the Director and Assistant Principal, you will help translate strategic priorities into high-quality, responsive curriculum delivery. You will use employer feedback, labour market intelligence and regional skills priorities to support the development of provision that meets current and future workforce needs.

A key part of the role will be leading employer engagement linked to the provision being planned and delivered. This will include working with construction employers, contractors and partners to shape curriculum content, support industry projects, provide progression opportunities and ensure learners develop the skills, behaviours and professional standards required by the sector.

The role will also support the development of provision linked to green skills, retrofit, sustainability, energy efficiency, low-carbon technologies, and modern construction practice.  You will work with teaching teams to embed these priorities into curriculum planning, teaching, learning and assessment.

You will have significant construction industry experience and a strong understanding of skills provision within further education, adult learning, apprenticeships, commercial training or a relevant technical/vocational setting. You will also have experience of curriculum planning, employer engagement, staff leadership and contributing to targets linked to recruitment, income, retention, achievement, and learner progression.

The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, able to build strong relationships with staff, learners, employers and external stakeholders. You will bring the drive, organisation and commercial awareness needed to grow provision while maintaining high standards of quality, learner support and curriculum performance.

The College is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse community and welcomes applications from individuals across all sectors. We aim to reflect the diversity of our student population in our staff profile, ensuring that we provide the best possible experience and environment for our learners. Our goal is to continue to develop a vibrant, supportive, and inclusive workplace where all staff can thrive.

For the next stage in the process, you will be required to attend the College’s premises, unless exceptional circumstances apply.

Solihull College & University Centre is committed to ensuring a safe environment for all students and expects all staff to engage fully with this commitment.
