Progression Coach / Support Worker (Waking Nights)

Central Recruitment is working with a prominent national homelessness charity, whose work includes supporting and accommodating young people.
Our client is currently recruiting for three Progression Coaches (Waking Nights) to work in the Durham area at a service that provides supported accommodation for young people (aged 18+) to help them move on to their own independent accommodation.
- 37.5 hours per week (average)
- Monday - Sunday on a two week rolling rota of waking night shifts
- Shifts: 21:30 - 08:00 (requirement to work every other weekend)
- Temporary: approximately 3 months
- £14.24 per hour (£12.71 per hour, with £1.53 holiday pay)

Key responsibilities:
- Conduct welfare checks on all clients
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all clients, following safeguarding and emergency procedures
- Provide personalised, flexible support, encouraging client involvement and participation
- Collaborate with external agencies adhering to data protection and information sharing protocols
- Carry out cleaning duties
- Cover reception, including answering phone calls
- Help maintain a safe, welcoming environment, and prepare accommodation for new clients
- Maintain clear, accurate records
- Manage the security of the building
What we’re looking for:
- Understanding of the needs of people facing homelessness, mental health challenges, substance misuse, or care system involvement
- Experience conducting welfare checks
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour and respond calmly in crisis situations
- Strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and work collaboratively
Further requirements:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Current valid right to work in the UK
- Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
- A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
- Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
