Progression Coach- Waking Nights (Support Worker)

Central Recruitment is working with a prominent national homelessness charity, whose work includes supporting and accommodating young people.

Our client is currently recruiting for two Progression Coaches (Waking Nights) to work in the Durham area at a service that provides supported accommodation for young people (aged 18+) to help them move on to their own independent accommodation.

•    37.5 hours per week (average)
•    Across Monday - Sunday on a two-week rolling rota of waking night shifts
•    Shift: 21:30 - 08:00
•    Temporary: approx. 3 months
•    £15.20 per hour (£13.56 per hour with £1.64 holiday pay)

Key responsibilities:
•    Conduct welfare checks on all clients
•    Ensure client safety and wellbeing, following safeguarding and emergency procedures
•    Provide flexible, person-centred support and encourage client involvement in activities and decisions
•    Work with external agencies while following data protection and information sharing procedures
•    Carry out cleaning duties
•    Cover reception, including answering phone calls
•    Help maintain a safe, welcoming environment and support new client move-ins
•    Maintain clear, accurate records
•    Manage the security of the building

What we’re looking for:
•    Understanding of homelessness, mental health issues, substance misuse, or the care system
Experience conducting welfare checks
•    Experience managing challenging behaviour
•    A calm response to emergencies and crisis
•    Strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills and ability to take notes
•    Ability to maintain boundaries, collaborate, and reflect on practices


Further requirements:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
•    Current valid right to work in the UK
•    Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
•    A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
•    Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
