About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Engineer to join a growing engineering organisation delivering Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) solutions across highly regulated industrial environments.
Working alongside experienced project delivery teams, you will support the successful execution of projects from concept and design through to commissioning and handover. This role offers exposure to a variety of engineering disciplines and provides the opportunity to work closely with clients, contractors, and operational teams on complex engineering challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Support the delivery of engineering projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and progress tracking.
- Coordinate engineering activities across multiple disciplines to ensure successful project execution.
- Monitor project milestones, risks, and technical deliverables.
- Produce project documentation and progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate the development and review of EC&I engineering documentation.
- Review technical specifications, control philosophies, instrument schedules, cable schedules, and design packages.
- Liaise with engineering teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and site personnel to ensure technical requirements are achieved.
- Support installation, commissioning, testing, and start-up activities.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during project execution.
- Participate in hazard identification and risk assessment activities.
- Support engineering safety reviews and ensure actions are tracked through to completion.
- Contribute to the implementation of process safety requirements throughout project delivery.
- Assist in maintaining project compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards.
- Act as a key point of contact between project teams and external stakeholders.
- Attend design reviews, progress meetings, and technical workshops.
- Provide regular updates on project status, technical issues, and key deliverables.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and operational teams.
- Ensure project activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
- Support document control, technical assurance, and governance processes.
- Assist with change management activities and project audits where required.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project activities.
- Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience delivering engineering projects within industrial, process, energy, utilities, manufacturing, or similar sectors.
- Understanding of engineering project lifecycles from design through to commissioning.
- Knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, electrical systems, and industrial automation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Experience supporting hazard studies and engineering risk assessments.
- Familiarity with process safety principles and engineering assurance processes.
- Experience within highly regulated industries.
- Knowledge of relevant engineering standards and industry best practices.
