Project Manager – Process Engineering

An established engineering and technology business specialising is looking for a Project Manager to join their team.

This is a rare opportunity to take a leading technical role within a business that delivers complex process plant projects for customers worldwide. Working at the forefront of project delivery, you will be responsible for ensuring the technical integrity, safety and performance of process engineering activities from initial concept through to commissioning and final handover.

The successful candidate will act as the organisation's recognised authority for process engineering matters, providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams and supporting the successful execution of major capital projects.

The Opportunity

As Technical Authority Process Engineer, you will take ownership of process engineering standards, design governance and technical assurance throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with project managers, design engineers, suppliers, contractors and end clients to ensure that engineering solutions meet operational, safety and commercial objectives.

The role offers a blend of office-based engineering, project leadership, client interaction and occasional international travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and process engineering authority across multiple projects.
• Develop, maintain and govern process design standards, engineering philosophies and design basis documentation.
• Review and approve process calculations, equipment specifications, process datasheets, PFDs and P&IDs.
• Define operating parameters, process limits and critical design assumptions.
• Lead or participate in HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA and other process safety studies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and recognised engineering standards.
• Act as the primary technical interface between clients, EPC contractors, suppliers and internal engineering teams.
• Support design reviews and provide technical responses to client queries and engineering challenges.
• Review and approve technical deviations, design changes and value engineering proposals.
• Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, installation and construction phases.
• Assist with commissioning planning, start-up activities and performance testing.
• Support the development of operating procedures and handover documentation.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual obligations.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced process engineering professional with a proven track record of delivering industrial process plant projects.

You should be able to demonstrate:

• Degree qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience within chemical processing, industrial manufacturing, process plant, EPC or similar engineering environments.
• Strong understanding of process design principles and process safety requirements.
• Experience producing and reviewing process flow diagrams, P&IDs and engineering calculations.
• Knowledge of fluid flow, heat transfer, process equipment sizing and process control systems.
• Experience participating in or leading hazard studies and risk assessments.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Confidence in making technical decisions and providing engineering leadership.
