About Us:

MensCraft is a Norfolk-based charity focusing exclusively on the health and wellbeing of boys and men. We support men facing life’s challenges or experiencing difficulties with their mental health.

Our work includes information, activities, programmes, one-to-one support, and connections to specialist services.

About the Role:

The role forms part of a new programme of support for adolescent boys and their families. The postholder will work directly with teenage boys and young men (aged 13–19) to promote personal development and create space for discussion and reflection around the challenges, difficulties, and positive aspects of being a boy or young man.

While the current focus of the programme is mentoring, a range of additional projects are in development. These projects aim to engage adolescent males in positive, supportive spaces, promoting healthy relationships with masculinity and positive future outcomes.

This post will play an active role in shaping and developing these additional programmes and therefore requires creativity, adaptability, and a willingness to explore change.

Key Responsibilities:

• Recruit, train, and support cohorts of volunteer mentors to deliver a structured 24-week mentoring programme for marginalised boys and young men (1:2 mentoring model).
• Deliver and develop a high-quality mentoring programme providing targeted support, guidance, and personal development opportunities for participants aged 13–19.
• Engage young people in group-based activities and co-produced programme design, fostering inclusive environments where they can thrive and contribute creatively (e.g. podcasts and media projects).
• Lead on mentor and participant recruitment, engagement strategies, and ongoing volunteer development to maintain programme quality and reach.
• Deliver outreach sessions in schools, colleges, and youth settings, including assemblies, workshops, and PSHE sessions.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools, community organisations, and multi-agency stakeholders, including making appropriate referrals to specialist services.
• Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, ensuring KPIs are met and programme impact is effectively captured.
• Support safeguarding practices, ensuring concerns are identified and managed in line with policy and legislation.
• Assist with programme delivery, budgeting oversight, and wider project support as required.

What we need from you:

• Experience of working with adolescent boys.
• Empathy and an understanding of the importance of work focused on teenage boys.
• An applied understanding of social media platforms. Including content creation through co-production.
• A strong track record and understanding of delivering effective support services comparable to this programme.
• Knowledge of different approaches to working with service participants, including co-creation.
• Knowledge, understanding, or experience of supporting and supervising trainees, students, or volunteers.
• Ability to work independently, using own initiative, while remaining accountable to line management.
• Understanding of relationship-based practice and factors that reduce the risk of exploitation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to different audiences.
• Ability to build effective relationships with service users, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
• Honesty, reliability, and flexibility.
