Location: Near Chertsey (commutable from Woking, Weybridge, Guildford, Staines)
Salary: Up to £38,000 + Overtime / TOIL
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (flexible working around core hours)

You’ll be operating in a prototype / R&D environment, building high-spec wiring assemblies and playing a key role in bridging Engineering and Production.

Prototype Wire Person Duties

  • Prototype wiring, harness assembly, and cable routing

  • Wiring and terminating D-sub (D-type) connectors and cable assemblies

  • Soldering, crimping, and general bench assembly

  • Building electromechanical assemblies from drawings and schematics

  • Reading and interpreting schematic and wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and BOMs

  • Supporting prototype builds and engineering changes

  • Carrying out rework and modifications during development stages

  • Basic inspection and testing (continuity, visual checks, etc.)

  • Working closely with engineering teams to resolve build and design issues

  • Following job cards, test plans, and technical instructions

What they’re looking for

Essential:

  • Proven experience in wiring, cable assembly, or electro-mechanical build

  • Ability to read and interpret schematic and wiring drawings

  • Experience with D-sub (D-type) connector wiring and termination

  • Strong soldering and crimping ability

  • High attention to detail and quality standards

  • Good hands-on bench skills

Desirable:

  • IPC-A-610 / IPC-A-620 experience

  • Experience in a prototype or R&D environment

  • Basic electrical testing (multimeters, continuity testing)

  • Mechanical assembly experience
