Quality Assurance Officer – Adult Residential Services

Role Summary

Resicare is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Officer to support our adult residential homes in maintaining high standards of care, governance and regulatory compliance under CQC requirements.

Working closely with Registered Managers, senior leaders and operational teams, the postholder will support the organisation’s quality assurance framework through audits, governance oversight, inspection readiness activity, action plan monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives. The role will help ensure services remain aligned with CQC expectations across safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led domains, whilst promoting a culture of accountability, learning and person-centred care.

This role forms part of Resicare’s wider quality and governance structure and will contribute to maintaining strong oversight systems, improving outcomes for residents and supporting services to evidence good practice consistently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and thematic audits across adult residential services, including care plans, risk assessments, medication records, incidents, complaints, safeguarding, health and safety, environmental standards, staff files and training compliance.
  • Support homes to evidence compliance with CQC regulations and standards, including safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led outcomes.
  • Produce clear and professional audit reports, identify trends and themes, risk-rate findings where appropriate and support Registered Managers to implement improvement actions.
  • Monitor and track action plans to ensure timely completion, escalating recurring, overdue or high-risk concerns appropriately through governance channels.
  • Support services with inspection readiness activity, provider information requests, governance reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in maintaining organisational oversight systems, dashboards, trackers and governance records to support effective quality monitoring.
  • Deliver introductory and refresher training relating to documentation standards, compliance, governance expectations, care recording and regulatory requirements.
  • Support learning and reflective practice following incidents, complaints, safeguarding concerns, medication errors and investigations.
  • Work collaboratively with managers and teams to embed practical and sustainable improvements in day-to-day care practice.
  • Participate in fact-finding activities, quality reviews and service improvement projects as delegated.
  • Maintain professional relationships with managers and staff whilst providing constructive challenge and support where required.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and high-quality person-centred care across services.

Travel Expectations

This is a regional multi-site role requiring regular travel between Resicare adult residential homes and occasional attendance at central office locations, meetings and training events.

Expected travel includes:

  • Regular visits across the assigned West Midlands Regional Portfolio
  • Occasional short-notice visits linked to incidents, concerns or inspection preparation
  • Attendance at governance meetings and organisational quality events

Business mileage and the agreed car allowance will be provided in line with organisational policy

Person Specification

Essiential

  • Experience within health and social care
  • Knowledge of adult social care and CQC expectations
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to analyse information and identify risks
  • Competent using Microsoft Office systems
  • Ability to travel independently between services
  • Professional, solution-focused approach
  • Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality

Desirable

  • Previous QA, auditing or compliance experience ·
  • Experience supporting inspections 
  • Training delivery experience 
  • Knowledge of Regulation 17 and governance frameworks 
  • Level 3 or above qualification in health and social care 
  • Achieved CQC rating ‘Good’ or “Outstanding’
