Quality Lab Technician
Location: Aycliffe
Contract Type: 3‑month contract initially
Hours: 39 hours per week
Work Pattern: 3‑shift rotation
- 2:00pm - 10:00pm (required for this role; candidate must also commit to other shifts)
- 10:00pm - 6:00am
- 6:00am - 2:00pm
Onsite Requirement: 5 days per week
Pay Rate:
- £14.38 per hour
- £3.37 per hour shift allowance
Equipment / PPE Requirements
- Safety shoes (worker to provide)
- Safety glasses (provided on site)
- Bump cap (provided on site)
Key Responsibilities
- Adhering to all site EHS policies and site requirements
- Operating quality testing equipment and testing systems
- Carrying out quality testing on site and offsite manufactured products
- Controlling shipping release to meet deadlines
- Ensuring prompt communication of non‑conformances to relevant manufacturing areas
- Demonstrating strong IT skills and understanding
- Maintaining excellent attention to detail and ability to analyse and understand data
Required Skills & Experience
- Previous quality experience or laboratory background
- Knowledge of SPC / SAP / DPQX
- Knowledge of Product RSFs and quality standards
- EHS‑conscious with engagement in behavioural safety programmes (e.g. SEE & ACT)
- Understanding and application of continuous improvement and root cause analysis techniques
- Competent IT skills, including working knowledge of:
- Microsoft Office (Outlook)
- e‑Matrix
- SAP
- Competent in report writing
- Strong organisational skills and ability to chase progress
- Mathematically competent
- Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organisation
- Familiarity with, and understanding of, test equipment
- Able to work independently, showing initiative, as well as collaboratively within a team
- Quality department and shift‑working experience preferred
Education
- Working towards a quality qualification or higher education
