Quality Lab Technician

Location: Aycliffe
Contract Type: 3‑month contract initially
Hours: 39 hours per week
Work Pattern: 3‑shift rotation

  • 2:00pm - 10:00pm (required for this role; candidate must also commit to other shifts)
  • 10:00pm - 6:00am
  • 6:00am - 2:00pm

Onsite Requirement: 5 days per week

Pay Rate:

  • £14.38 per hour
  • £3.37 per hour shift allowance


Equipment / PPE Requirements

  • Safety shoes (worker to provide)
  • Safety glasses (provided on site)
  • Bump cap (provided on site)


Key Responsibilities

  • Adhering to all site EHS policies and site requirements
  • Operating quality testing equipment and testing systems
  • Carrying out quality testing on site and offsite manufactured products
  • Controlling shipping release to meet deadlines
  • Ensuring prompt communication of non‑conformances to relevant manufacturing areas
  • Demonstrating strong IT skills and understanding
  • Maintaining excellent attention to detail and ability to analyse and understand data


Required Skills & Experience

  • Previous quality experience or laboratory background
  • Knowledge of SPC / SAP / DPQX
  • Knowledge of Product RSFs and quality standards
  • EHS‑conscious with engagement in behavioural safety programmes (e.g. SEE & ACT)
  • Understanding and application of continuous improvement and root cause analysis techniques
  • Competent IT skills, including working knowledge of:
    • Microsoft Office (Outlook)
    • e‑Matrix
    • SAP
  • Competent in report writing
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to chase progress
  • Mathematically competent
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organisation
  • Familiarity with, and understanding of, test equipment
  • Able to work independently, showing initiative, as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Quality department and shift‑working experience preferred


Education

  • Working towards a quality qualification or higher education
