Non Standard Socket Screw Ltd is a well-established Midlands-based major stockist and manufacturer of high-quality fasteners. We currently have an opportunity for an enthusiastic QHSE Assistant / Inspector to join our team.
This is a varied, hands-on role within a fast-moving manufacturing environment, covering quality, health and safety and environmental activities. The position would suit a conscientious and positive individual with experience in quality or engineering inspection who is looking to broaden their knowledge into H&S and environmental areas. Full training and support will be provided where required.
You will report to the Quality Manager and will work closely with production, stores and management teams to help maintain standards, support compliance and assist with continuous improvement across the business.
As a QHSE Assistant / Inspector, the duties include:
- First-off appraisals and general inspection duties.
- Pre-subcontract finishing inspection.
- Final Inspection Reports (FIRs).
- Assisting with FAIR, PPAP and ISIR documentation.
- Equipment and gauge calibration support.
- Assisting with shopfloor quality checks, records and non-conformance administration.
- Supporting health and safety inspections, housekeeping checks and corrective actions.
- Assisting with risk assessments, safe working procedures and toolbox-talk records.
- Supporting environmental controls, waste records, energy data and ISO 14001 improvement activities.
- Helping maintain QHSE records, audit evidence and compliance documentation.
- Assisting with other duties requested by the QHSE Manager.
Skills Required:
- Quality, inspection or engineering experience is preferred.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings is advantageous.
- Experience using conventional measuring equipment is advantageous; training will be provided where required.
- A practical interest in health and safety and environmental management.
- Willingness to learn and develop across QHSE disciplines.
- Computer literate, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Good attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
- Excellent communication skills and a hands-on approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of the fastener industry is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Keyence measuring systems is desirable but not essential.
- A current UK driving licence is desirable.
- Excellent timekeeping.
Hours and Benefits
- 38.5 hours per week.
- Overtime paid at 1.33 on weekdays and 1.50 on Saturdays.
- Monday to Thursday: 7.00am to 3.30pm, with 30 minutes for lunch.
- Friday: 7.00am to 1.30pm.
- 31 days paid holiday (inc.Bank Holidays)
