Quantity Surveyor

ALink Recruitment are working with a company who are looking to bring in a Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial and cost management support for the delivery of capital projects, ensuring robust financial control, value for money, and compliance with contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cost Management
- Prepare and manage cost plans, budgets, and forecasts throughout the project lifecycle
- Produce regular cost reports and cash flow forecasts for the project team
- Monitor project spend and identify cost variances with corrective actions
- Prepare and present final accounts and project financial close-out reports
2. Procurement & Contract Administration
- Support procurement activities including preparation of tender documents and bills of quantities
- Evaluate and analyse tender returns and make recommendations for award
- Administer contracts in accordance with NEC, JCT, or other applicable forms of contract
- Assess and process contractor payment applications and subcontractor accounts
3. Change & Variation Management
- Manage the change control process, including valuation and agreement of variations
- Assess and negotiate contractor claims and compensation events
- Maintain a robust change register and ensure timely resolution of commercial issues
4. Risk & Value Management
- Contribute to risk workshops and maintain commercial risk registers
- Identify and develop value engineering opportunities
- Provide commercial input to project reviews and governance reporting
Person Specification
Essential
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on infrastructure, construction, or aviation projects
- Strong knowledge of contract administration (NEC, JCT, or equivalent)
- Competence in cost planning, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Experience in managing variations, claims, and compensation events
- Proficient in cost management software (e.g. CostX, Causeway, or equivalent)
Desirable
- Experience in airport, aviation, or highly regulated operational environments
- MRICS or working towards chartered status (RICS)
Qualifications
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline
- RICS membership (MRICS or RICS accredited degree) preferred
