We’re partnered with a long-established and highly regarded civil engineering contractor based in South Devon, delivering specialist infrastructure projects across the South West and throughout the UK for more than 30 years.
The business is recognised for successfully delivering technically demanding civil engineering schemes, including:
- Flood defence and bunding projects
- Inland waterways and environmental engineering works
- Complex reinforced concrete structures including bridges, viaducts, and coastal protection schemes
- Piling and heavy foundation packages
Following continued expansion and a strong portfolio of secured work, they are now seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team in Devon.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you’ll take commercial responsibility for a range of technically challenging civil engineering projects, supporting operational teams to ensure schemes are delivered profitably and in accordance with contractual requirements.
The role offers genuine variety, with each project bringing its own engineering and commercial challenges.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing cost plans, forecasts, and value reporting across projects
- Managing CVRs and monitoring commercial performance
- Producing tenders, bills of quantities, compensation events, variations, and claims
- Negotiating with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Managing procurement and subcontractor accounts
- Providing commercial support and reporting to operational teams
- Overseeing valuations, payments, and final accounts
- Maintaining strong commercial controls and governance throughout delivery
We’re looking for an experienced and commercially aware Quantity Surveyor with a background in civil engineering or infrastructure environments.
You’ll ideally have:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or similar
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of CVRs, forecasting, and commercial reporting
- Solid understanding of NEC contracts
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- A detail-oriented and commercially focused approach
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel where required
