Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (QS) – National Grid / Substations

Location: Stafford (with travel to Boston, Lincolnshire – 1–2 days per week)
Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 + Car Allowance + Healthcare + Bonus

The Opportunity

We’re recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team delivering multiple National Grid substation projects across the Midlands and East of England.

With 5–6 schemes being mobilised concurrently, this is a great opportunity to join a busy, fast-paced environment and play a key role in supporting project delivery from the outset.

The Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of substation and infrastructure projects, working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and delivery teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Supporting subcontractor procurement and management
  • Preparing valuations, variations, and assisting with final accounts
  • Monitoring budgets across multiple live projects
  • Supporting cost-reimbursable project elements
  • Liaising with internal teams and clients (including National Grid) to support approvals and commercial processes

Projects

  • Key project based in Boston, Lincolnshire
  • Additional project exposure in Ipswich
  • Focus on National Grid substation works (HV / infrastructure)
  • Hybrid role with 1–2 days per week on-site

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant QS ready to step up
  • Background in:
    • Utilities / Energy / National Grid
    • HV / substation works
    • Civils or infrastructure
  • Experience in M&E or other complex build environments (e.g. data centres) will also be considered as transferable
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to work across multiple projects
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced delivery environment
