Residential Support Worker Location: South East England Hours: 40 hours per week Salary: £29744 - £30576

The Role

We're recruiting for a Residential Support Worker to join a children's residential home, providing practical and emotional support to young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. This is a hands-on, rewarding role where no two days are the same and the impact you make is real.

You'll be part of a small, close-knit team working together to create a safe, caring and homely environment where children and young people are supported to grow, develop and thrive.

What You'll Be Doing

Working directly with young people across all aspects of daily life, including:

  • Supporting personal care, daily living skills, and routines
  • Organising and supervising recreational and leisure activities, both in and out of the home
  • Supporting attendance at education and, where needed, providing transport
  • Acting as keyworker for specific young people, leading on care planning and reviews
  • Administering medication when trained and authorised to do so
  • Maintaining accurate records and handover documentation
  • Building positive relationships with young people, families, social workers and external professionals
  • Upholding safeguarding at all times and working in line with relevant policies and legislation
  • Contributing to a positive, safe home environment including cooking, household tasks and health and safety monitoring

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Ability to work on your own initiative and prioritise effectively
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • A team player with a calm, consistent approach
  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant field or genuine willingness to work towards one
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with emotional or behavioural difficulties
  • Experience managing challenging behaviour
  • Good written skills for record keeping and documentation
  • Flexibility around shift patterns
  • Solid IT skills
