Science Teacher - SEN School (SEMH Needs)

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our specialist SEN school supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is an exciting opportunity for a resilient and nurturing educator who is committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve success both academically and personally.
The Role
You will deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons across KS3 and KS4 within a supportive and therapeutic learning environment. Students may present with SEMH needs, Autism, ADHD, trauma-related behaviours and interrupted educational experiences. The successful candidate will be able to build positive relationships, create a structured classroom environment and inspire students to develop curiosity and confidence in Science.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated Science lessons tailored to individual learner needs
- Teach engaging lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics at KS3 and KS4 level
- Support students to develop scientific understanding, practical skills and confidence in learning
- Create a safe, structured and inclusive classroom environment
- Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches to behaviour management
- Support students to re-engage positively with education and learning
- Monitor progress and contribute towards EHCP targets and student reviews
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff and external professionals
- Ensure safe and effective use of practical Science equipment and laboratory procedures
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Science at KS3 and KS4 level
- Experience working within SEN, SEMH or alternative provision settings desirable
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
- Patient, adaptable and resilient approach
