Stoke-on-Trent

Hours per week 39

Contract type Fixed Term

Spend your summer working outdoors, keeping our gardens and green spaces looking their best while everything is growing and thriving. You’ll help care for gardens and grounds across our homes, schemes, and office buildings around Staffordshire, making a real difference to the places people live and work.

No two days will be the same, one day you could be mowing lawns, planting, or tidying outdoor spaces, and the next you might be carrying out small repairs to fences, paths, or other external areas. It’s a hands-on role where you’ll stay active, learn practical skills, and be part of a friendly team helping our communities look their best during the busy summer months.

What you’ll do:

  • Help keep our outdoor spaces looking their best through lawn mowing, hedge cutting, pruning, weeding, and litter picking.

  • Carry out practical outdoor maintenance tasks such as gutter cleaning, fence and gate repairs, and small home repairs for residents.

  • Support the team with keeping areas clean and safe, including the removal of fly-tipping waste.

  • Use a range of powered gardening and grounds maintenance equipment, including lawn mowers, hedge cutters, brush cutters, and leaf blowers.

  • Take part in landscaping projects to improve gardens and outdoor spaces across our communities.

  • Drive company vans and, where needed, tow trailers to help deliver services across Staffordshire.

  • Stay connected with your manager and team through regular phone calls, emails, and one-to-one meetings.

Who you are:

  • You have some knowledge or experience in grounds maintenance and enjoy working outdoors.

  • You’re confident carrying out small-scale repairs and practical maintenance tasks.

  • You’re happy working outside in all weather conditions and enjoy staying active.

  • You understand the importance of working safely and following safe working practices.

  • You take pride in delivering great customer service and being helpful to residents and colleagues.

  • You bring a positive attitude, a hands-on approach, and good problem-solving skills.

  • You have, or are working towards, an NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture (or equivalent experience/knowledge).

  • You’re keen to learn new skills, develop your experience, and continuously improve.

  • You hold a full UK driving licence and are comfortable travelling across Staffordshire as part of the role.
