Remedy connects passionate educators with schools across London. We are seeking a Careers Advisor for a full-time, long-term position at a secondary school in East London.
Job Overview:
As a Careers Advisor you will provide impartial careers information, advice, and guidance (IAG) to students from Years 7-11, supporting informed decisions regarding education, training, apprenticeships, and future career pathways. the ideal careers advisor would need to have experience in this field in either a school setting or other educational fields, if you have similiar suitable experience you are also welcome to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct one-to-one careers interviews and group guidance sessions to help students identify strengths, interests, aspirations, and progression opportunities.
- Deliver careers education workshops covering employability skills, CV writing, interview preparation, labour market information, and post-16/post-18 options.
- Support students with university applications, UCAS processes, apprenticeship applications, personal statements, and career action plans.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with employers, colleges, universities, training providers, and external agencies to create meaningful opportunities for students.
- Organise and coordinate careers events, employer engagement activities, careers fairs, workplace visits, mock interviews, and work experience programmes.
- Monitor and track student destinations, participation, and progression data to support school improvement and Gatsby Benchmark compliance.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, SEND departments, parents/carers, and senior leaders to support students' personal development and career aspirations.
- Provide tailored careers guidance and transition support for vulnerable students, including SEND learners, disadvantaged pupils, and those at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training).
- Maintain accurate records of careers interventions, action plans, and student outcomes in line with safeguarding, GDPR, and school policies.
- Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, and social mobility through careers education and guidance activities.
- Support the school's Careers Programme and contribute towards achieving the Gatsby Benchmarks and statutory careers guidance requirements.
Requirements:
- Delivered careers guidance to over 300 students annually across Key Stages 3-5.
- Organised careers fairs and employer engagement events involving local businesses, universities, and apprenticeship providers.
- Supported students in securing university places, apprenticeships, traineeships, and employment opportunities.
- Improved student participation in careers activities and contributed to Gatsby Benchmark targets.
