A specialist secondary SEN provision in Pinner is seeking dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistants to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people with a range of complex additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their potential.
About the Role
As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN
- Support learners with needs such as Autism (ASC), SLD, SEMH, and communication difficulties
- Assist with engagement, behaviour regulation, and emotional support
- Deliver support through structured, sensory, and practical learning activities
- Help students with life skills, independence, and personal development
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Support the implementation of EHCP targets and individual learning plans
- Contribute to a safe, consistent, and positive learning environment
Requirements
- Experience working with secondary-aged pupils or SEN settings
- Strong understanding of behaviour support and de-escalation strategies
- Patient, calm, and resilient approach
- Ability to build strong, positive relationships with young people
- Willingness to support personal care if required
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable
- Experience with ASC, SEMH, SLD, or complex needs
- Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or AAC systems
- Background in youth work, care, or specialist education
