Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teacher for an immediate start at a specialist setting in Lowestoft. About the Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment where students feel understood, valued and supported. Many of the young people you will work with may have experienced challenges that have impacted their education, confidence and emotional wellbeing. Your role will be to provide the stability, encouragement and tailored support they need to succeed both academically and personally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH needs.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students to promote emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviour.
  • Supporting students who may struggle with anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, attachment difficulties or barriers to learning.
  • Using creative and adaptive teaching approaches to re-engage learners and develop confidence in the classroom.
  • Implementing behaviour support strategies that focus on understanding, de-escalation and positive outcomes.
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants, pastoral teams, parents and external professionals to provide a holistic approach to student support.
  • Celebrating individual achievements and helping students develop the skills needed for future success.

Who We're Looking For

We would love to hear from teachers who:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Have experience working with SEMH, SEND, alternative provision or students with additional behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Are patient, empathetic and able to build positive relationships with young people.
  • Have strong classroom management skills and a calm, consistent approach.
  • Are passionate about supporting students who need additional guidance to reach their potential.
  • Understand the importance of trauma-informed and relationship-based practice.
  • Hold a FULL UK Driving licence.
