SEN Learning Support Assistant (Outreach & Intervention)

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist outreach team supporting children and young people who are not currently accessing mainstream education.

This is a highly rewarding role working 1:1 and in small groups, supporting learners in their homes, community settings, and alternative provisions to help them re-engage with education and build confidence.

The Role:
  • Full-time, long-term opportunity
  • Outreach-based SEN support (not classroom based)
  • Working with children with SEMH, ASD, and complex needs
  • Delivering tailored learning and intervention sessions
  • Supporting engagement, emotional regulation, and routine building
Working Hours:
  • Monday – Friday
  • 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Term time only
Essential Requirements:
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence
  • Must be willing to travel across Plymouth and surrounding areas
  • Ability to obtain business insurance for travel with learners
  • Confident working independently in community and home-based settings

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (SEMH/ASD preferred)
  • Can build strong, trusting relationships quickly
  • Is calm, resilient, and adaptable in challenging situations
  • Is passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
  • Can work flexibly and independently

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
