SEN Learning Support Assistant - Primary School

Full Time | Monday to Friday | 8:30am - 3:30pm

We are currently recruiting for a caring and committed SEN Learning Support Assistant to work within a mainstream primary school in Blyth. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential within the classroom environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to provide tailored support to learners with a range of additional needs, including communication difficulties, ASD, ADHD and social, emotional or behavioural needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural development
  • Help create a safe, positive and nurturing learning environment
  • Monitor progress and contribute to pupil support plans
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN is desirable
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification preferred
  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and supporting children's wellbeing

Safeguarding Requirements:

  • An enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service is preferred
  • Applicants without one must be willing to obtain a new enhanced DBS
