Are you a patient, resilient, and compassionate individual looking to support young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

A welcoming and well-established SEN secondary school in Rochdale is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team immediately. This opportunity is ideal for experienced SEN Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Behaviour Support Workers, and Psychology or Education graduates looking to gain valuable experience within specialist education.

You will support students aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), sensory impairments, and complex learning needs. Working closely with teachers and SEN professionals, you will play a key role in helping students engage with learning, develop independence, and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support and small-group interventions
  • Support students with EHCPs and individual learning plans
  • Assist with personal care where required
  • Promote positive behaviour, communication, and social development
  • Support students' academic, emotional, and personal progress
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and SEN staff
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working within SEN, SEND, mainstream, care, or alternative provision settings
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A positive, proactive, and flexible approach
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or a degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field (desirable)
