SEN Outreach Tutor / SEND Outreach Tutor – Southwark

Location: Southwark and surrounding areas
Pay: £20–£35 per hour PAYE
Job Type: Part-Time / Full-Time / Flexible Hours
Start date: ASAP, July or September
New Chapter Tuition is currently recruiting experienced and compassionate SEN Outreach Tutors to provide personalised 1:1 tuition for children and young people aged 5–25 across Southwark.
This rewarding outreach role involves supporting learners with a range of additional needs including Autism (ASC), SEMH, ADHD, Dyslexia, Speech and Language Needs, anxiety, and emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA).
Learners may be accessing support through EOTAS packages, alternative provision, elective home education, PEX pathways, or whilst awaiting specialist school placements.
Tutors may support learners with:
- Primary curriculum
- KS3 and KS4 learning
- GCSE preparation
- Functional Skills English and Maths
- Engagement and confidence-building support
Sessions take place within homes, libraries, and community learning environments.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging 1:1 outreach tuition tailored to individual learner needs
- Adapt teaching approaches to support engagement and progress
- Plan sessions in line with EHCP outcomes and learning plans
- Build positive relationships with learners and families
- Complete progress reports and session feedback
- Work collaboratively with schools and professionals
- Apply trauma-informed and nurture-based approaches
Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN / SEND
- Previous experience as a Tutor, Teacher, HLTA, TA, Mentor, or similar role preferred
- Good understanding of the UK National Curriculum
- Experience supporting GCSE and/or Functional Skills preferred
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Ability to work independently in community settings
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
