SEN Teacher

Remedy Education

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a supportive school in Thurrock. The successful candidate will support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment that enables every student to achieve their full potential.



Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual student needs.
  • Support pupils with SEND including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties.
  • Develop and implement strategies in line with EHCP targets and individual learning plans.
  • Monitor, assess, and record student progress, providing regular feedback to parents and senior staff.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively using positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit different learning styles and abilities.
  • Promote student independence, confidence, and social development.
  • Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing policies are followed at all times.


Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • Strong understanding of EHCPs and differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting students with additional needs.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).


Desirable Skills

  • Experience within SEN schools, resource provisions, or mainstream inclusion settings.
  • Training in Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, or trauma-informed practice.
  • Knowledge of autism-friendly and sensory learning approaches.
