A specialist SEN school in Uxbridge is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to support pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). About the Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver highly differentiated, engaging lessons tailored to pupils with SLD
- Support students’ academic development, communication, and independence
- Use multi-sensory and structured teaching approaches
- Implement and review EHCP targets, tracking progress effectively
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
- Contribute to assessments, reports, and annual reviews
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
- Experience working with pupils with SLD or complex SEN needs
- Strong understanding of differentiation and inclusive teaching strategies
- Ability to manage behaviour and support emotional regulation
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable
- Experience with PMLD, Autism, or communication needs
- Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or AAC systems
- Experience working in a specialist SEN setting
