A specialist SEN school in Uxbridge is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to support pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). About the Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver highly differentiated, engaging lessons tailored to pupils with SLD
  • Support students’ academic development, communication, and independence
  • Use multi-sensory and structured teaching approaches
  • Implement and review EHCP targets, tracking progress effectively
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Contribute to assessments, reports, and annual reviews

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • Experience working with pupils with SLD or complex SEN needs
  • Strong understanding of differentiation and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Ability to manage behaviour and support emotional regulation
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable

  • Experience with PMLD, Autism, or communication needs
  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or AAC systems
  • Experience working in a specialist SEN setting
