About the Role
A specialist SEN school in Redhill is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children and young people with a range of additional and complex learning needs within a supportive, structured, and well-resourced environment.
The school caters for pupils with Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), speech and language needs, and complex learning difficulties. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and personalised learning experiences that support pupils' academic, social, emotional, and communication development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet EHCP outcomes and learning targets
- Support pupils' academic, social, emotional, and communication development
- Create a structured, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
- Use sensory, visual, and practical learning approaches to maximise engagement
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and wider SEN professionals
- Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress
- Contribute to annual reviews, EHCP meetings, and wider school initiatives
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive outcomes for all pupils
What We’re Looking ForEssential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching within SEN or mainstream education
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Ability to differentiate learning for pupils with a range of complex needs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable:
- Experience working with pupils with ASC, SLD, PMLD, or complex needs
- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, AAC, or sensory learning approaches
- Experience within a specialist SEN school or alternative provision
- Understanding of communication-focused and functional learning curriculums
