SEN Teaching Assistant
We are seeking dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join a range of primary and secondary schools across Leicestershire. Whether you are available immediately or looking for a September start, this is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to provide tailored support for pupils with a variety of additional needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
ADHD
Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
Physical and sensory impairments
Responsibilities include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Supporting pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning
Working collaboratively with teachers and parents/carers
Helping to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Requirements
We welcome applications from candidates who:
Have experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based experience desirable but not essential)
Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
Are patient, empathetic, and adaptable
Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Hold relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualifications (advantageous but not essential)
