SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary | Part-Time | Taunton

Location: Taunton
Days: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday
Hours: 08.30-15.30
Pay: £14.66 - £16.56 per hour (depending on experience & pay type)

Prospero Teaching is looking for a caring, confident and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Taunton. You will be supporting pupils with a range of additional needs and helping them to access learning in a safe, structured, and positive environment.



The Role

  • Provide 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, communication needs, or social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Create a calm, encouraging learning environment where pupils feel safe and supported.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow individual support plans.
  • Use strategies to help pupils regulate their emotions, remain on task, and engage positively with learning.
  • Support pupils during class, transitions, and playtimes as needed.


The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with SEN, particularly Autism, ADHD or SEMH needs.
  • A nurturing, patient and resilient approach.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Right to work in the UK.
