1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Long-Term, Coventry, CV2

Some children need one person they can count on. In this role, that person is you.

A mainstream primary school in Coventry is looking for a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with autism and an EHCP. This is a long-term placement starting as soon as the right person is found, five days a week, working through Sprint Education.

The pupil is pre-verbal with complex needs, and their support requirements have recently increased following a period of regression. They enjoy sensory activities, familiar books, and nursery rhymes. They respond well to calm, consistent adults who don't overreact and who can hold a steady presence through difficult moments.

This isn't a role for someone who needs quick wins. It's for someone who finds meaning in showing up the same way, every day, and watching trust build over time.

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil throughout the school day
  • Following the pupil's current strategies, including sensory regulation techniques and 'Now and Next' approaches
  • Working calmly and consistently within a provision staffed by four adults
  • Communicating regularly with the school's SENCO as your day-to-day point of contact
  • Supporting the pupil's gradual reintegration into the mainstream classroom over time
  • Helping the pupil build positive relationships with their peers through safe, structured interactions

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with autism or complex SEND in a school setting
  • A calm, non-reactive approach when faced with challenging or physical behaviour
  • Confidence working 1:1 with a young child who may initially resist support
  • Familiarity with sensory regulation strategies - experience with 'Now and Next' is a bonus
  • A patient, consistent presence - someone who understands that behaviour communicates need
  • An Enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

What's on offer:

  • Long-term placement through Sprint Education, full-time, five days per week
  • A supportive team environment with clear SENCO oversight and escalation
  • A role with genuine continuity - you'll be the consistent adult this child needs
  • Day-to-day support and a thorough introduction on your first morning

Why Sprint?

If you're looking to work as a teacher in a mainstream classroom, providing day-to-day supply cover, we're probably not the agency for you. But if you're passionate about supporting students with additional needs and want a long-term role where you can build consistency and see the impact of your work every day, that's exactly what we do.
