Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful impact in a childs education?

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Barnet is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). The pupil is verbal, bright, and academically capable but requires consistent support to remain engaged, develop independence, and navigate the school day successfully.

The child is currently working at an early developmental level, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates with an EYFS background or experience supporting younger learners with additional needs.

The Role

As the successful SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
• Support learning, communication, and classroom engagement
• Implement strategies that encourage independence and emotional regulation
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
• Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to deliver consistent support
• Help promote positive social interactions and participation in class activities

Requirements

Essential

• Previous experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar role
• Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Desirable
• EYFS experience or understanding of early developmental learning
• Relevant SEN, Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or Education qualification
• Experience supporting a range of additional needs
