SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary

A supportive and inclusive primary SEN provision in UB5 is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to support young learners with additional needs in a nurturing and structured environment.

About the Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to primary-aged pupils with SEN
• Support children with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), speech and language difficulties, and learning delays
• Assist in delivering differentiated and engaging learning activities
• Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
• Implement and monitor EHCP targets
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support staff
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment

Requirements

• Experience working with primary-aged children with SEN
• A patient, caring, and proactive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to support behaviour management and emotional regulation
• Willingness to support personal care if required
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable

• Experience with ASC, speech and language needs, or SEMH
• Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication strategies
• Relevant qualification in Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning
