A welcoming mainstream primary school in Hayes is seeking an energetic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with pupils with complex needs, helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

You will be working within a specialist SEN class, supporting children with a range of complex needs, in an environment that prioritises structure, consistency, and pupil wellbeing.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide targeted support within a specialist SEN class
  • Work with children with a range of complex needs
  • Support pupils in accessing learning tailored to their individual needs
  • Use PECS and Makaton as key communication tools
  • Assist the teacher in delivering structured, differentiated lessons
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Promote independence, engagement, and confidence
  • Help maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive environment

About You

  • Experience supporting children with SEN and complex needs
  • Level 2 or 3 qualification (Supporting Teaching & Learning, Early Years, CACHE, NVQ, or equivalent)
  • Essential: Experience using PECS and Makaton
  • Energetic, proactive, and resilient
  • Patient, adaptable, and positive
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
