We are currently recruiting for a compassionate and resilient SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistant to support young adults with additional needs in a specialist education setting. The Role
You will work closely with teaching staff to support students aged 16-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role involves providing both academic and emotional support, helping learners develop independence, confidence, and life skills.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND/SEMH needs
Assist in delivering personalised learning plans
Support students in managing behaviour and emotional regulation
Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Encourage independence and support with life skills development
Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals
Requirements
Experience working with young people or adults with SEND and/or SEMH needs
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage challenging behaviour positively
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care) are desirable but not essential
